How every figure is checked

Results are estimates for planning, not legal, tax or financial advice.

  1. Rates and rules are taken from primary government sources and cited by name and number.
  2. Every formula is modelled independently in Python, and the live calculator has to match it.
  3. Worked examples and reference tables are generated from that checked model.
  4. Figures are re-checked against the official page whenever a rate or rule changes.

Yes. Every calculator on My Easy Calculator is free, with no sign-up and no account. You do not need to give your name or email address to get a result. The site is supported by advertising, which is labelled and kept away from calculator inputs and results.

The UK, Australia, Canada, New Zealand and the USA. Each country has its own calculators built on its own tax and employment rules, so the topics differ: vacation pay is a Canadian calculator, for example, and stamp duty is Australian. If your country is not listed, our results will not reflect your local rules.

Start with the country whose rules apply to you, which is usually where you work, pay tax or own the property. Then pick the topic. Some calculators also ask for a province, state or territory, because rules such as Canadian vacation pay and Australian stamp duty change from one to the next.

On the calculator page itself. Below each calculator you will find how the figure is worked out, worked examples and the official sources behind the rates. Our Editorial Policy explains how we build and check every calculator. If a figure looks wrong, contact us with the calculator name, your inputs and the official source that shows a different figure.

At the start of each tax year and whenever a government changes a rate or rule. The UK tax year starts on 6 April, New Zealand's on 1 April and Australia's on 1 July, while Canada and the USA use the calendar year. Each calculator shows the tax year it uses and when it was last checked.
